On January 10, the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding on the feasibility study of Myanmar Mandalay Kyaukpyu railway project was held in Naypyidaw.

This is another important breakthrough in the joint construction of key projects by China and Myanmar since the signing of the concession agreement for Kyaukpyu deepwater port project on November 20, 2020.

In January of last year (2020), China Railway Eryuan submitted the feasibility study report of Mujie Mandalay section to the Ministry of transport and communications of Myanmar. It is reported that this time, the two sides will continue to carry out a feasibility study on the Mandalay Kyaukpyu section.

Chen Hai, Chinese ambassador to Myanmar, Tan Shufu, commercial counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, Wu danxinmao, Minister of communications and communications of Myanmar, Wu Jueming, vice minister, and Wu wenkan, Permanent Secretary of Myanmar, attended the ceremony.

In the presence of ambassador Chen Hai and Minister Wu danxinmao, Wang Guoliang, chief representative of creec in Myanmar, and Wu angwen, director of technical management department of Railway Bureau of Ministry of transport and communications of Myanmar, signed the memorandum of understanding on feasibility study of Mandalay Kyaukpyu railway project.

As for the Sino Myanmar railway cooperation, Ambassador Chen Hai said that on the basis of completing the feasibility study of the muzie Mandalay section, the two sides will carry out in-depth discussions on technical solutions and financing methods. The consultation on the feasibility study of Mandalay Kyaukpyu section has been completed with the support of Myanmar government departments and the provinces and states along the railway. A few days ago, we also witnessed the arrival delivery of 28 train cars purchased by Myanmar with China's interest free loan. The railway cooperation between the two sides has overcome the impact of the epidemic and continued to move forward. The achievements have not come easily, which is a vivid portrayal of the spirit of China Myanmar community of common destiny.

Standing at a new historical starting point, China will speed up the construction of a new pattern of double cycle development and share development Dividends with other countries in the world, especially neighboring countries. As the artery of the country, railway will promote the development of Myanmar. The Dali Ruili railway in China is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2023, directly to the China Myanmar border. China Myanmar railway connection and railway construction in Myanmar will make Myanmar more closely connected with the huge market of 1.4 billion people and the vast Eurasian continent, promote Myanmar's economic development and improvement of people's livelihood, and help Myanmar's domestic reconciliation and peace process. In April 2019, the Chinese side has formally submitted the text of the feasibility study report (technical part) of the Mujie Mandalay railway project to Myanmar.
